Klosterneuburg Abbey is a Proud Partner!

Since 2000, Klosterneuburg Abbey has supported the work of CONCORDIA by funding construction projects, school education, apprenticeships and much more. The Abbey’s contribution, together with donations from parishes, school classes, companies and private individuals, enables children and young people to be provided with food, clothing and educational materials, as well as an education that gives them hope for the future.

Within this partnership, Klosterneuburg Abbey has also made a significant contribution through the proceeds from abbey concerts, by providing accommodation for children from our project countries during their stay in Austria as part of the CONCORDIA Children’s Concert, and through financial support for centres in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The Abbey has also been involved in providing emergency aid to refugees following the outbreak of war in Ukraine – for whom we offer supported housing, job coaching, family-style residential groups, temporary accommodation and vocational training.

The association, founded specifically to support CONCORDIA, is the Abbey’s largest social project and has been involved as a sponsor in numerous projects in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova from the very beginning. The social commitment of Klosterneuburg Abbey has a tradition stretching back more than 900 years. Klosterneuburg Abbey sees itself as a place where faith is lived out and as a repository of unique cultural treasures; since its foundation in the 12th century, it has fulfilled a wide range of roles as a spiritual, cultural and economic centre.
